The Lockwood Company, originally located at 419 Commercial Street in Atchison, Kansas, is an outgrowth of the Trade Printing Company organized by C. A. Lockwood in 1903. While printing a general line of commercial work, the Trade Printing Company made a specialty of blank books, loose leaf systems, office outfitting and general office supplies.
The Trade Printing Company made it a point of business to keep up to date in the matter of equipment, as well as in the product which it turned out. In 1912, the name was changed to Lockwood-Hazel Printing and Stationery Company. The firm moved to Atchison's Masonic building in 1912, and was the first major tenant of the structure.
